Fixed-odds betting operator Fortuna Entertainment Group recorded a 15.2 per cent increase in total gross win in the first half of this year.

The company, which is based in the Netherlands and operates across Europe, achieved gross win of €55.1m in the first six months of year. The total amount staked with the company increased 9.6 per cent to €229.1m, of which €219.1m came from sports betting.
Gross win from online betting increased to €17.8m, a gain of nearly 22 per cent over the same period in 2011. Gross win from retail betting in the first half of 2012 amounted to €32.4m, just 1.3 per cent less than in the previous year. The decline in retail betting was greatest in the Czech Republic. In Poland, where the company recently acquired 80 new retail outlets, the gross win from retail betting went up.
Poland, said company chairman Wilf Walsh, has become the fastest growing market in Fortuna’s portfolio.
