An "overwhelming" response to the first MENALAC Awards is reported by the Middle East trade association.

MENALAC

The awards will be presented at a gala dinner at the Ritz Carlton, Dubai, on April 10. Fifteen categories of awards has been set by the organisation and it reports that 70 entries from leisure operations in the region have been received. The best theme parks, water parks, FECs, visitor attractions and best industry practices are all represented in the awards that will be judged by an international panel of experts.

They will formulate a shortlist for each award through an independent external audit firm. The collated results will be announced during the Oscar-type ceremony on April 10. There will also be a Hall of Fame award to recognise the contribution to the industry of one individual chosen by the MENALAC Board.

The evening on April 10 will open with a networking cocktail party, followed by the gala dinner and then the awards ceremony with entertainment in between.

The winners of awards will take home a Golden Lamp, signifying the magic of the industry and shaped like an Aladdin’s Lamp.

The Diamond Sponsors of the event will be Al Hokair and Sons, the Saudi Arabian operator. Tickets for the event go on sale next week on MENALAC’S website and organisations may either book a table of 10 at a block price or book as individuals.
