Retro gaming will sit alongside VR in a new UK project set to be the biggest in Europe, according to the developer.

Cains

ArCains will attract a £3m investment in the Cains Brewery Village, a tourism, leisure and retail attraction on the site of the former Cains brewery in Liverpool.

The million sq.ft site already has a raft of contemporary bars, eateries and a branch of the mini-golf chain, Ghetto Golf, among other businesses. Future plans for the site also include a 94-bedroom hotel and cinema.

The developer behind the ArCains plan is the Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group, which already operates a bar, Punch Tarmeys, at the complex.

The new arcade is set to feature a large selection of video games, from the ‘70s to present day titles, along with pool tables, shuffleboard, basketball and an entire floor dedicated to VR.

Andrew Mikhail, chairman of Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group, said: “Our planned £3m investment in the state-of-the-art ArCains is part of our wider £7m plans for the strategic regeneration of Cains.

“Situated in the vicinity of Liverpool’s dynamic tech world, we believe that ArCains enhances the sector offer with more than 100 jobs being created on the back of our plans.

“Not only will the stunning arcade development offer the biggest selection of arcade games anywhere in Europe, our partners alongside many stakeholders in the area believe ArCains will be a significant addition to the Baltic creative offering that already exists.

“Plus, we believe this is the first experience of its kind in the industry enabling between 10 and 100 people to simultaneously participate as one booking.”
