Kingdom Holding Company has injected €49.2m into the struggling Euro Disney, operator of the Disneyland Paris theme park in France, under a recapitalisation plan.

The Riyadh-based company, 95 per cent owned by the Saudi billionaire Prince Al Waleed Bin Talal, confirmed its “additional investment in Euro Disney,” adding that “KHC maintains its 10 per cent share ownership of the company.”

In October last year, KHC confirmed a newspaper report that Prince Al Waleed would subscribe to the rights issue to maintain the 10 per cent stake but gave no further details. He is the second-biggest shareholder of Euro Disney.

Between 2012 and 2014, Disneyland Paris visitor numbers dropped from 16 million to 14.2 million.
