Embed's Adam Steinberg has told InterGame that the company has recently entered the Canadian market with two installations in January and that the new Dubai office in the Middle East is now fully operational with a staff of four including general manager Luke McKimmie, who relocated to Dubai with his family in January.
"They have hit the ground running with recent installations for Magic Planet in Sharjah, Bahrain and Ajman and for the Emaar Malls at the Dubai Aquarium, Dubai Ice Rink and customer service kiosks throughout the massive Dubai Mall," said Steinberg. "Embed also recently installed its POS system into the Armani Casa retail store in Dubai where homewares and furniture items designed by Georgio Armani are sold. We can now say that Embed can sell everything from a 20 cent video game up to US$100,000 lounge suite."
Commenting on the challenges facing the industry, Steinberg added: "It will be a tough year ahead. There will be many big projects delayed or cancelled due to the economic conditions and scarcity of finance.
"However, it will also create opportunities. As existing operators look for ways to drive sales and run their businesses more efficiently they will look to the management systems available from companies such as ourselves to achieve this. The industry needs to get focused on offering great entertainment value to consumers. In tough economic times people cut back on the big luxuries but they still need a bit of fun and low cost entertainment provided by FECs and arcades can provide this."
