Mitchells and Butlers’ John Appleton gives his thoughts on the London show.

Name: John Appleton
Position: director of electronic leisure
Company: Mitchells and Butlers
I’ve attended what seems like hundreds of London amusements and coin-op shows.
The most amusing memory I have of a previous show is… One a long time ago that quickly followed an announcement by the then Gaming Board of Great Britain that there was to be a new maximum AWP prize of £4.80. The industry had thought £5.00 would be granted. The then manufacturer, Ace, had developed a machine called a “Fistful of Fivers”; somehow a “fistful of four-pound-eighties” did not have the same ring to it!
At 09:55 on 13th January you’ll find me… ‘Faffing’ in my pockets to find my entry ticket barcode.
My main objective for EAG International is… To get there!
What I enjoy most about the show is… Meeting industry colleagues.
My favourite place for a meal after the show is… The Thai restaurant nearby as that’s where I am going.
The thing I love about being in London in January is… Are we technically in London for the show, Greenwich, or somewhere else far out?
My advice to first-time visitors to EAG International is… To come another time.
At the end of the show I will… Wonder where all that time went.
