Reflex Gaming, the major UK machine manufacturer, has been acquired by leading independent operator, Dransfields Novelty Company.

Dransfields has purchased the entire issued share capital of Gameco Holdings, the parent company of Reflex Gaming. The sum involved has not been disclosed.

Reflex CEO Quentin Stott will remain in charge of the company.

Chris Haley, managing director at Dransfields, said: “We have had an excellent relationship for many years and the acquisition is a perfect fit for Dransfields. It secures UK-made machines for existing and future customers. Dransfields will now be able to explore further opportunities within the UK gaming machine industry.”

Quentin Stott said that the new ownership preserved two important values for him, the company has been independent and British-owned. “Our new ownership preserves both of these values and provides us with the investment and opportunity needed to further develop the company.

“In recent years the low stake gaming machine sector has seen a number of high profile international acquisitions of UK gaming machine manufacturers and operators. This has resulted in the creation of some polarised and powerful groups of vertically integrated supply lines to the pub retailers and motorway service stations. The newly combined businesses of Dransfields and Reflex creates a new and credible alternative.”

Mat Ingram has now joined the Reflex board under the new ownership.

Dransfields has been in existence for over 70 years and remains family-owned. It turns over £23m annually and operates in 5,000 locations with 14,000 pieces of equipment, much of which is in the private club sector.
