Spanish photo booth manufacturer Digital Centre has opened a US office. The opening was on November 4, just ahead of the big Orlando IAAPA trade show where CEO Josep Tarrés introduced his American office executives to the industry.

Steve Friedman is operations manager and Freddye Torres sales manager at Digital Centre America Inc, which is based in Miami, Florida.

"We previously used a distributor in the US," said Tarrés, "but we decided in the end that it was better to take our fortunes into our own hands. We have worked in the US for 10 years with some success and this year we can bring to the trade a new range of booths.

"There has been a great deal of talk about photo booths and the costs element in their operation. We have now refined everything to the point where it really is possible to cover the cost of the machine, all of the running costs and contribute to the site-owner as well as leave the operator with a decent profit.

"Our booths can be supplied at only $4,995, which is around half of many competitors’ products. The other much-criticised cost area is the film. We can supply it at $0.29 but this can reduce to as little as 12 cents with the annual recurring discounts. And there is a two-year warranty on the equipment."

Tarrés makes a strong case for the economics of photo booths and the company’s new package kept his booth at Orlando very busy.
