Many business owners have taken to previously untried methods to bring in vital revenue streams during the current coronavirus lockdown, including one particular US arcade owner.

Pinballz

The owner of a small chain of Pinballz Arcades in Austin, Texas, has launched a rental scheme for his currently unplayed classic video cabinets, reports CBS Austin.

The three locations owned by Darren Spohn are of course deemed non-essential and, along with arcades and FECs everywhere, have had to shut their doors, sadly resulting in the redundancy of almost 200 employees.

Some were kept on, however, due to an influx of requests to rent the mothballed machines to keep isolators entertained at home.

The new income source has allowed Spohn to retain a number of techs and other staff to facilitate taking the arcade the arcade experience to local residents.

The games - and there are over 600 to choose from - are cleaned and delivered by staff wearing PPE and observing social distancing.
