This week the UK industry should hear a decision on the B3 debate - although the industry has heard that one before.

A decision is eagerly awaited on an adjustment to stakes and prizes for the B3 machine, which was downgraded in the last review from £2 stake to £1 and limited to four machines per location.

The industry has campaigned for a return to the £2 stake and an uplift to a number of machines representing 20 per cent of the machine content of a location. It has campaigned on a platform of the inequalities which exist between B3 in arcades and the virtually unrestricted high-level gambling which takes place in bookmakers’ shops.

InterGame understands that the amending legislation is awaiting a signature this week, but whenever it comes - and assuming it is what the industry wants to hear - then it would be very positive for adult gaming centres and bingo clubs. There would then be a ‘proper’ distinction between Category B3 and Category C machines and would rejuvenate the sector.
