The first event has been staged at Dubai’s new Coca-Cola Arena and there are plans to make the city a new entry in the circuit for the best international acts in music and entertainment.

Canadian comedian Russell Peters was the inaugural attraction at the Arena when it opened on June 6 and is now featuring Maroon 5 until June 14.

The venue has 17,000 seats and is the largest indoor arena in the region. It has climate control and will support an all-year-round programme of events, says owners Meraas. It is planned it will host touring artists, family entertainment, sports events, gala dinners and exhibitions and conferences.

An LED strip light system covers the outside of the venue, situated in City Walk, and at night the building is covered by changing patterns of lights. It has 35 food and drink outlets and 42 corporate suites.
