The DEAL show in Dubai in April, was "much better than the Technofolies/Interschau, the EAS in Nice and the ATEI in London," according to Jose Saus, from the Spanish kiddie ride manufacturer Industrias Falgas.

"I am not the only one who thought the Dubai event was better than all of those other shows," he said. "And all of this is despite the fact that the US dollar is now at 1.6 to the euro when it was 1.2 at the time of last year’s show."

He added: "There is a new wave of interest from countries like Iran and Syria and the local operators in the Middle East now seem to understand - after experience - that there is a big difference between cheap Chinese rides and the superior quality which may be available for their investment."
