Machines that allegedly breach Merit's China trademarks have been seized in two organised raids by the Panyu and Nancun authorities from the Chinese Administration for Industry and Commerce.

Eighteen complete Megatouch machine copies were seized in the Panyu district, Guangzhou, and 10 upright Megatouch machine copies were seized in a North Star factory.

"The seized units were transported by the authorities to the AIC warehouses and appropriate penalties will be issued," said Bob Fay, Merit’s director of government relations. "It was determined that these copy machines were destined for Vietnam and investigations will be conducted."

The alleged illegal activities were discovered through Merit’s China monitoring programme. "To protect the integrity of Megatouch, we have teams of agents that monitor suspected copy companies on a regular basis," stated Fay. "Once we confirm illegal activities, we instruct our China team to take action."
