Major Spanish operator Cirsa showed an operating profit of €182.6m in the first half of the year, up 18.6 per cent on the same period of last year.
The company in its second quarter had a turnover of €399.9m, which was 321.1 per cent up and the quarter’s profit was €91.8m, up 19.9 per cent.
The company, which also manufactures machines under the Unidesa brand, reports that Latin America was one of its most successful sectors, notably Panama and Peru, and the Colombian market had done well despite the devaluation of the country’s currency.
Sales and operations in Spanish casinos had also performed well and in Italy, despite the problems for the machine sector, VLTs and AWPs had also contributed.
The company said that Spanish arcades were improving generally, helped by the introduction of multigame cabinets and by the introduction of sports betting. Cirsa’s Sportium sports betting brand was opening in Castilla León with 110 new outlets.
Cirsa has 16,000 employees, 130 casinos, 40,000 AWP machines in operation, 71 bingo halls and 123 arcades.
