Despite a period of recession in Spain, from which the country is only just emerging, major operator Cirsa has increased its operating profit by 8.3 per cent to €154m for the first half of 2014.
Operating income was €760m, 13.9 per cent up on the previous year. The second quarter saw a turnover of €370m, which was up 11.5 per cent.
The company reported that in Latin America, where it has a significant operation, the casino division reported good results despite poor exchange rates. In the domestic market an upturn in tourism helped revenues. VLTs in Italy performed well.
The company claims a 54 per cent share of the Spanish AWP sales business through its Unidesa brand and expanding operations of bingo machines and sports betting in some of the Spanish jurisdictions are proceeding satisfactorily.
