Cineworld is the second largest chain of cinemas in the world and has 101 locations in the UK and Ireland, but it has been in financial trouble since the pandemic.

The planned closures are in Glasgow, Bedford, Hinckley, Loughborough, Yate and Swindon.

Cineworld entered administration last year with debts estimated at around £4bn and has been up for sale. It has denied reports that a further 19 venues would be axed.
