US pizza/FEC operator Chuck E. Cheese has recalled 1.2 million light-up rings and star glasses to address concerns over faulty plastic casing that could easily come apart and expose the tiny battery inside to children, posing a choking risk.

In a recall notice on the US safety agency\‘s website, it has been said that if improperly handled, the plastic casing of the toys may come apart and possibly expose the underlying batteries. "If ingested, the batteries may be damaging to either the stomach, intestine, esophagus or nasal mucus membrane," it said.

Chuck E. Cheese has said: "We are conducting this recall to keep our customers safe and prevent injuries by removing the light-up ring and star glasses from the marketplace."

Around one million units of light-up rings have been sold at Chuck E. Cheese\‘s locations or distributed at parent-teach association conventions in the US and around 30,458 units of star glasses have been sold.
