In scenes that may or may not be welcomed by operators of attractions across the world, thousands of Chinese tourists flocked to popular scenic spots last weekend following their reopening.

Yellow Mountians

One such area, the popular Huangshan mountain range, saw more than 20,000 visitors and had to close its doors for safety reasons, reports the Daily Mail.

It comes as the local government of Anhui Province in eastern China has offered free entry to 29 scenic spots, including Huangshan, in a bid to boost tourism following the lifting of coronavirus restrictions.

The popular mountain range, also known as Yellow Mountains, urged visitors to come back at other times to relieve the stress of overwhelming numbers during the three-day Qing Ming Festival holiday.

Attractions such as the Great Wall of China, the West Lake, Terracotta Army, Potala Palace and some amusement parks have also opened for business in recent days.

Visitors are asked to show their health status on their phones, wear face masks and have their temperatures taken upon their arrival.
