UK gaming operator Praesepe has raised a record £12,000 for disabled children's charity CHIPS through its annual charity five-a-side football tournament.
Twenty-six competing teams took part including Barcrest, Town and Country Leisure, SE Leisure, E-Services, Genesis Games, Seamers, Voyager, Talarius, EMW Solicitors and Beacon Bingo, with Genesis Games All Stars winning against Barcrest in the final.
Reflecting on the day’s events, Praesepe CEO Nick Harding said: "The football and family fun day far exceeded our wildest expectations. The £12,000 raised was a record sum and represents a magnificent achievement, particularly in the current economic climate. All of the proceeds are going directly to CHIPS to help more children whose lives, and those of their families, would be considerably more difficult without its continued support.
"Everyone who attended made a huge contribution with their efforts and enthusiasm and really helped make a difference to children who, without this collective support, would not otherwise have access to what is life-changing equipment."
Stephen Lawrence, Praesepe COO for AGCs, added: "I would like to thank all the players that made the trip to Milton Keynes and for giving us so much excitement. Special thanks go to the volunteers who helped make the day run smoothly and I'd like to pay tribute to all the companies who pledged donations, raffle prizes and auction items in support of what has become an established day in the industry calendar."
