As the US entertainment industry moves more towards locations that offer everything under one roof, Entertainment Properties Group is onto a winner with its new Pinstack concept, CEO Mark Moore tells Simon Liddle.

IS it part of a deeper trend within the leisure market or simply one enterprising company’s efforts to branch out? Either way, the new Pinstack bowling and entertainment venue that opened in Plano, Texas, at the beginning of the year lays down a marker for the future direction of the industry.

The new venue and the Pinstack brand itself is a new venture from Entertainment Properties Group, the Dallas-based operator of the iT’Z Family, Food and Fun chain of family entertainment centres. The iT’Z venues are located across Texas, New Mexico and Colorado. Following its location openings in Albuquerque, Houston and Colorado Springs, its purchase of sites in the Texan cities of Pasadena and Euless in 2010 was a significant step in expanding the company’s presence in its home state. It also laid the groundwork for what would eventually be the Pinstack brand – in 2012 and 2013, the company added 12 deluxe bowling lanes at three sites.
