Exhibitors at the World of Entertainment show in Prague spoke about the need for a change in Czech legislation. The current gaming act is now out of date and the general consensus at the show was that a change is needed in order to reflect the technical developments and changes that the industry has seen.

Cashpoint, an exhibitor, agreed that a change in law is imperative. The company was recently granted a licence in the Czech Republic after applying almost a year ago. Tasilo Tanzer from Cashpoint told InterGame that the process was difficult and that he feels Czech legislation is complicated.

According to EDP sales director Jan Zelko, although a change is in the pipeline, it won’t take place for a few years due to elections this October and because there are several different groups - operators, government, ministry of finance, movements against gambling - who all want to take part in the creation of the new legislation.

Speaking to InterGame at the World of Entertainment show on Novomatic’s stand, Zelko said: "There are a lot of different interests so it will take a long time to agree on a new law. Nobody knows what will be in the law, it will be a surprise, but we hope it will be good."
