With a cashless society on the horizon in a handful of countries, the coin-op industry has already started its payment evolution. Dan Snook asks if we are close to seeing cash completely replaced by contemporary alternatives.

Cashless

MONEY, apparently, makes the world go round. It’s what the Beatles wanted and Tom Cruise screamed to be shown. Sadly, it’s rather necessary in most walks of life and our industry is no exception. What has changed however is the physical form it takes.

Currency has been around for some time according to the historians. After the domestication of cattle and the start of cultivation of crops in 9,000 to 6,000 BC, both livestock and plant products were used as money.
