US-based Valley Dynamo looks back on its achievements over the past three years following a change of hands

InterGame: What has been the most significant change since the acquisition three years ago?

Valley Dynamo: We have been on a constant growth trend ever since and this is significant considering the downward economy that plagues the entire global industry. Both domestic and international sales have continued to climb; in fact our growth has been so consistent that current owner Kelye Stites has purchased a new building twice as big as our existing facility. Work is under way and the move to our new home will be accomplished this summer. The new building will allow us to create production and improve efficiencies in many ways.

IG: It’s great that the business has grown but there must have been some challenges along the way?

VD: Yes of course there have been challenges, particularly faced with the slumping economy. The challenges have not so much been because our own sales have slowed as they haven’t, but the challenge has been to maintain our pricing to customers. Cost of raw materials and other items necessary for production has risen drastically over the last three years, which has resulted in reduced margins. Knowing that our customers, distributors, operators and dealers are all facing the same economic challenges, we have tried to make it just a little easier on them by not increasing prices.

IG: How has the pricing freeze helped your customers?

VD: Many of them have been able to continue improving their operations, rotate equipment and stay on top of their business rather than be swallowed up by ageing equipment and demanding customers.
