British Gymnastics and Oxygen Freejumping have partnered, which will see the two bodies work together to encourage more people to take up trampolining.

The agreement is the first partnership between a commercial chain of trampoline parks and the National Governing Body for Gymnastics and Trampolining.

Building on the early success of Oxygen’s School of Trampolining, which every month teaches thousands of children formal gymnastics, the agreement will also see the company become an official delivery partner of British Gymnastics. The two will also develop an Introductory Award for beginners, which will teach the basics in a one hour coached session, and the training of Oxygen’s Court Monitor staff to achieve UKCC qualifications, increasing the number of British Gymnastics coaches who are actively delivering in the UK.

David Stalker, Oxygen Freejumping CEO, said: “Ultimately, we want to become one of the largest providers of accredited trampoline gymnastics in the UK. We are closing in on that target and this is a huge step in the right direction. The partnership is all about providing more opportunities for our young customers to develop their trampolining skills in a progressive and safe environment.”

Dave Marshall, participation director at British Gymnastics, said: “The partnership with Oxygen Freejumping will enable more children and young people to take their enjoyment of Oxygen’s trampoline park to the next level. They’ll learn how to perform new, exhilarating skills whilst being closely monitored and supervised by trained instructors. The popularity of gymnastics and trampolining in the UK continues to grow and we are experiencing unprecedented demand from people wanting to take part. We are actively working to create partnerships throughout the leisure sector to help meet this demand and we’re delighted to be partnering with Oxygen to support this ambition.”
