The 50 per cent capacity imposed on some bowling venues in Pennsylvania, US, is proving frustrating for their managements, who have complained through local news site GoErie.com.

The viability of operating at maximum 50 per cent is questioned by Mark Wattle of Greengarden Lanes, who is not opening under those rules.

He said: “It’s just putting a small band aid on a big wound.”

He agreed with David Kacprowicz of Eastland Bowl and Karen Drake of Eastway Lanes, that limited capacity would severely hamper their ability to operate.

“If we stay at 50 per cent you might as well shut the door right now,” said Wattle.

Drake said: “For what bowling costs universally, the Erie region is really inexpensive. To keep operating we need to be at more than 50 per cent capacity.”
