One of the Middle East's most ambitious new family entertainment centres has signed major contracts with coin machine suppliers.

The Funfair Company of Doha, Qatar, has announced a ‘soft’ opening for most of its rides at the huge indoor amusement park Gondolania Entertainment Centre, which is located in the biggest shopping mall in Doha, Villaggio.

The rides, a roller coaster, flume, Tap Dancer, Drop Zone, Sky Loop, carousel and Ferris Wheel and the amusement games area were open for the Muslim festival Eid al-Adha in November.

Michel Koborsi, CEO of the Funfair Company, said that he had signed an agreement with Warehouse of Games (based in Dubai) to supply the latest amusement games worth US$3.5m. The games were delivered in time for the opening. Additionally, Koborsi placed an order with US company ICE for more equipment totalling US$370,000.  Additionally, a contract worth US$4m has been signed with Aspen Creations LLC, a major theming company in the UAE for the FEC’s interior. The deal for the rides and attractions totalled US$10m and went to SBF-Visa Group. A 12-lane glow-in-the-dark tenpin bowling system came from Switch Middle East and KCC  of Belgium is supplying a go-karting system to fit into an indoor 3500sq. m. location with 24 karts.  Everything has been coupled together with an Intercard debit card system.
