The group, which employs 10,000 people and operates 1,375 outlets, reported profits of nearly £70m for the period, up from £53m a year earlier.

Chairman Fred Done said he was “delighted” that the company had delivered such positive results.

“We continue to grow strongly and evolve our range of products,” he said. “Our estate of 1,375 betting shops is performing well and we are making great strides in improving and enhancing our online and mobile offering.”

“We are very excited about the future and are positive about the outlook for the business.”

Betfred is planning to open 30 additional land-based stores next year.

The company recently launched Inspired Gaming’s new Eclipse cabinet at its store in London’s Fenchurch Street. Inspired intends to roll out 9,000 of them with Betfred, William Hill and Paddy Power.
