Early testing of Game Concepts' Beside The Seaside coin pusher has proved its ability to attract players and more than justify its position on the arcade floor, according to Gordon Crompton, particularly when it is banked in twos and threes.
Developed on the back of Deep Sea Treasure’s success and feedback from a number of site visits, which saw operators show an interest in a single-player coin pusher that they could heavily merchandise, while using the advantage of fast feed entries in conjunction with 2p/10p play, Game Concepts, together with Sega Amusements Europe, looked to develop a cost effective single-player coin pusher.
"During early discussions with Sega’s Justin Burke and Aaron Gilbey we all concluded that a British seaside theme would be the way to go, especially with the rebirth of the great British holiday," Crompton told InterGame. "Ben Wilson, who is a partner in Game Concepts and has been involved with design within our industry for the last 15 years, worked his magic, creating the theme and artwork to what is a very unique and striking single-player pusher."
Currently Beside The Seaside is only available for the UK market but a European version is set to be unveiled later in the year, according to Burke. The coin pusher also has the ability to accept 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2 coins through the multi-mech - allowing players to play coin credits from buttons either side of the coin entry, making this coin pusher unique in player versatility.
