Bay Tek Games introduced an all-new game to the DEAL show audience in Dubai in April. Boink! is the appropriate name for the hands-and-feet reaction testing game.
Lighting effects pulsating at random between the hand-level barrier surrounding the player and the footpads on the floor of the device, mean that the player has to hit or stamp on the lights fast enough to score points.
A redemption game, Boink! is the result of considerable research and development work by Gina Weyers, who was at the show to demonstrate the game which was there in prototype format. "It’s name comes from the sound effects it makes when you successfully play the game," said Weyers, who is responsible for Bay-Tek’s new business development. Weyers was accompanied on the visit to DEAL by Bay-Tek’s Adrian Drewitz, who handles international sales for the company.
"Redemption has always been a strong part of our business," said Drewitz, "and it continues to grow. Our development of devices such as Boink! means that the technology employed is useable in other processes outside of our industry. This has helped the company to expand into other businesses as outside companies recognise the potential of the new technologies we are coming up with." The restaurants industry, shopping centre displays and the bars and taverns business are all now customers for Bay-Tek developments, mostly in the field of marketing.
