The UK's Office of Fair Trading has cleared the way for the sale of gaming and amusement machine manufacturer Barcrest to Scientific Games, for up to £35m.

The OFT has decided not to refer the proposed buy-out to the Competition Commission, following the announcement in May that the US-based gaming company had agreed to buy Barcrest.

The OFT had opened an investigation after concerns the deal would "result in a substantial lessening of competition" in the sector as it already owns UK-based Global Draw and Games Media.
