The rights to operate the first phase of the new US$8m beachfront Bilaj Al Jazayer project in Bahrain are up for grabs. The Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company has requested proposals for the operation, management and maintenance of the phase.

The project will come in two phases and will consist of high quality public beaches, with pedestrian walkways and a leisure outlet for retail, F and B and entertainment options. The phase will cover one kilometre of currently unoccupied beach front that will subsequently be landscaped. It will become a primary destination for leisure and entertainment open to tourists and locals, said Edamah, the property subsidiary of the country’s wealth fund.

The second phase will include an hotel as part of a world class beachfront destination. There is a deadline for submitting proposals for the first phase of June 2.
