A Belfast retail destination is adding axe throwing to its range of leisure attractions.
Cityside, a two-year-old retail and leisure park development in the Northern Irish capital, is introducing the concept to its Cityside Excite retailtainment offering operated by Black Axe Throwing Co.
Urban axe throwing is growing in popularity in the UK and has recently been described by The Times as the “new ten-pin bowling.”
The Belfast location is the second for the company following its successful inaugural venue in Edinburgh, Scotland, and will operate alongside Cityside Excite’s other activities, which include VR CityX, Northern Ireland’s first VR arcade and the Lost City Adventure Golf.
There is also a 14-screen cinema, a health club, bingo club and children’s soft play facility within the complex. The axe throwing is operated in sessions and is supervised by Black Axe instructors who take the players through the basic elements and also offer some more advanced techniques. Each session ends with a competition to test the players’ abilities.
