New Zealand operator Gary Walker has expressed his disappointment at this year's ATEI set up.
“I have been visiting the ATEI show for years and to be honest the upstairs/downstairs divide, which was introduced last year is making things confusing for visitors all round.
“Downstairs you’ve got that ‘cute’ little white wall separating the gaming side from coin-op and then upstairs you’ve got visitors having to queue for ages to register adding to the confusion.
“Everyone wants the show to be a success but a lot of people are worried that the organisers do not share the same enthusiasm and there is nothing more frustrating,” he said.
“The organisers need to consolidate the coin-op exhibitors into one area so visitors like myself don’t have to try hard to make sure they see everything.”
As far as products go, Walker commented that games that caught his attention included the Triotech Space Invaders on the Sega stand, which he described as “innovative and something different for the arcades,” Big Buck Hunter Paradise and Deal or No Deal for the street market.
“SWPs are also represented strongly at this show, something which you don’t really get at the other shows,” he added. “But it is a shame to see so many copies of LAI Games’ Stacker.”
