A press release from the group, which also runs the Dreamworld and WhiteWater World theme parks in Australia, read: “Ardent Leisure Group Limited notes recent media speculation regarding a potential divestment of Main Event Entertainment.

“Ardent confirms that it is not currently in discussions in relation to a sale of Main Event Entertainment.”

The announcement comes after Australian media reported that Ardent had been in discussions with at least one interested party recently and conjecture was rife that further talks were imminent.

Ardent has, over recent years, sold off its other interests in gyms and marinas and also sold its bowling operations to Timezone’s owner, The Entertainment and Education Group, in 2017.

The Main Event chain, based in Texas, US, currently owns 42 locations in 17 states and is one of the US’ leading operators of FECs.
