While the two casinos in Singapore, the Sands and the Sentosa, are reported to be giving the best ROI of any international casino locations in the world, the amusement industry has more mixed reporting.
The two casinos are enjoying US$6bn (€4.6bn) annually.
The island-state has about 40 arcades/FECs and they report revenue downturns, especially with multiplayer games, compared with last year. The theory is that the novelty factor has worn off many of the games. But investment continues, with companies like Timezone opening new premises.
Shopping malls remain an ‘ingrained part of every Singaporean family’s life’ says one FEC owner and therefore as long as the location keeps its technology fresh, incomes will remain sound.
