The depression which has plagued the US amusement machine market for several years was not necessarily evident at the AMOA show, held in Las Vegas (September 10-12), according to Gary Stern, the pinball manufacturer.

“The turnout looked better than it was at ASI (held in March) and I heard from a number of folks that they had a good show.”

But there is a continued reduction in exhibits, he added. “Most of us (exhibitors) took less space. We had four booths instead of the six last year. We used to take 10 staff with us, then reduced to eight, then to six and this year just three.

“Benchmark was down to one booth, Coastal, Baytek and Fun Industries did not show and Bromley never takes part at this show. If we go in 2009 at all, it will be with a very small booth.”
