According to exhibitors and visitors alike at the 30th AmEx show in Dublin last week, the coin-op industry in Ireland has yet to feel the pinch of the recession that other parts of the globe are currently in the midst of.

The evident business that was generated at the show proved even further that hard times have yet to hit the island. Game Concepts not only picked up the Mark Sinnot award for best product at the AmEx show, but the company also returned home a little lighter, selling all the machines on its stand. Distributor of air hockey tables Sam Leisure managed to sell two tables just 20 minutes into the first day of the show.

Owner of Irish game company Kimble, Jim McCann, said that although it is likely that the recession will have some effect on the coin-op industry in Ireland at some point, for now the market is booming. “Kimble saw one of the best years it has had in 2008 and already, 2009 is looking to be a good year.”
