UK bookmaker William Hill experienced an eight per cent increase in operating profit for the 13 weeks to April 2, 2013.

The company reported a 15 per cent jump in overall operating profit. It’s retail net revenue increased eight per cent, although operating profit for this segment fell three per cent during the period. Gaming machine net revenue grew one per cent and gross win per machine per week was £904, compared with £918 in the first quarter of 2012. Online net revenue and operating profit increased 21 per cent and 13 per cent, respectively.

“Operationally, performance remains good, with strong gross win margins a feature of the period in both Retail and Online,” said Ralph Topping, chief executive of William Hill. “We have two strong channels, with both responding well to opportunities and challenges.”
