An official confirmation was issued today that Austria’s Novomatic has bought the well-known Dutch operating company Loontjens Automaten through the subsidiary Novo Gaming Netherlands, which is based in Tilberg.

Loontjens Automaten

The deal was forecast in this column a month ago and now Loontjens, based in Middelburg becomes part of the Novomatic empire. Loontjens is one of the top five operators in the Netherlands and runs nine arcades and 1,300 AWP machines in street locations. The principals, Alexander and Marcel Loontjens, are to remain with the company.

Novomatic has an increasing hold on the Dutch market, having purchased JVH Exploitatie, JVH Gaming Products, Eurocoin Gaming, AWP Design and Pierre de Jonge. Loontjens will keep its name and Recreatieprojecten Zeeland with the same staff. The company is now able to strengthen its focus on new and future products for the Dutch market.

Separate from the deal is Loontjens Biljards, a strong performer in the billiards market with its own production and international distribution of tables and accessories. The Loontjens Family will keep this company, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in six years’ time.
