Dubai’s Majid Al Futtaim Properties is forging ahead with its Mall of Egypt project, despite the continued unrest in Cairo.

MAF revealed that 70 per cent of the space within the $800m property has already been let to tenants, Arabia Business reports. The 399,400sq.m site will house an indoor ski resort, similar to MAF’s Ski Dubai facility at the Mall of the Emirates, along with a 17-screen cinema and an amusement park.

The company has two existing malls in Egypt, one in Alexandria and another in Maadi, and opened its first mall in Lebanon earlier this year. It now plans to open a second there, as well as constructing similar projects in Georgia, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
