FOR decades, cash has been king. The tell-tale sound of coins hitting a tray has been synonymous with AWPs practically since their inception, and the tangible feeling of picking up your winnings is a tough experience to replicate. Spending habits outside of the realm of amusements tended to be similarly dependent on hard cash, although likely due to a lack of alternatives more than anything else - these days, contactless payments have taken centre stage, especially in retail, thanks to their convenience, speed and, in light of recent events, a greater emphasis on distance and hygiene.

So, what does our industry have to say about it? Robert Bird of Microcoin thinks that there is room for both, with each having their own part to play.
