Just like classic rock, pinball has been in and out fashion but is still going as strong as ever.

“Rock ‘n’ roll will never die” sang Neil Young. He could just as well have been singing about pinball.

Like rock ‘n’ roll it has a storied history going back decades, a few decades further back than rock. Both were once seen as rebellious, frowned upon by the powers that be for their supposed subversive effect on the younger generation - indeed pinball was banned in many parts of the US for many years for its association with gambling. Both then became accepted by the establishment but then of course eventually start to appear a little stale and old hat.
