As the first Approved Testing Facility to offer testing for Spain, NMi has coped with a barrage of work against tight deadlines in 2011. But what is next for the longest running gaming lab in Europe?

NMi NMi

NMi is one of the oldest names in the field of gaming compliance with a 30-year history of providing compliance services to the industry. With its roots in the Netherlands and a track record of working with virtually all the governments of Europe, NMi has recently expanded its presence into Spain to accompany offices in Italy, the Netherlands and the UK.

The opening of a Spanish office was a response to high demand for testing for national online licences. Giles Bones, country manager for Spain, joined NMi after its successful application and comments: “There have been a lot of documents published in the last few months. Many have been early drafts or open to interpretation so it is difficult to see how you would cope without someone on the ground in Spain. I’m looking forward to seeing these companies start trading and am particularly happy to have helped many local Spanish companies through the process. Our automated testing of the Internal Control System allowed us to give instant feedback which in tight time frames helped our customers’ complete development of the complex system.”

“A lot was made of us being first in Spain, but we were surprised to be one of the few to get the application right,” adds Andrew Rosewarne, managing director of NMi in the UK. “The requirements were clearly published and the regulator was helpful from our first approach. We simply prepared our application in a competent manner – I’m sure our customers would expect nothing less. We’re much prouder to have delivered for them during the application period.”

So what does 2012 hold for NMi. Well there is a lot of work to do in the different European countries, Rosewarne continues: “Of course there is still the majority of work to complete in Spain and companies going live in Denmark have a year to complete their testing.

“We’re expecting 35,000 VLTs to hit the market in Greece in the near future. No one has more experience than us in this area and we are looking forward to supporting new and existing customers. Emerging i-gaming markets are becoming commonplace but as well as Greece, Germany, the Netherlands and Ireland are three that seem likely to need our attention.
