It is now safe to say the US casino industry has recovered and the new normal is growth again.

June marked the third month in a row and the sixth of the last seven in which gaming revenues in regional markets beat the year before as reported by Fantini’s National Revenue Report.

However, there was a slowdown as the 1.97 per cent rise in regional revenues was the weakest since March. Overall revenues nationally declined one per cent thanks to Nevada, where a steep decline in baccarat play drove down Strip revenues.

However, exclude the Strip and revenues rose broadly throughout the country, even though there were pockets of obstacles like the New Orleans smoking ban and the floods in east Texas that kept gamblers away from western Louisiana casinos.
