The department is thought to be also covering its objectives on casinos, the number of machines allowed into bingo halls and adult gaming centres and several other aspects of gambling in the UK.

The expected date for the DCMS' response to be published could be as soon as next week.

Earlier this week, the UK Gambling Commission unveiled its new three-year corporate strategy, re-emphasising the Commission's commitment to deliver on the decisions set out in the government's white paper. Titled 'Gambling Regulation in a Digital Age’, the strategy makes a series of commitments alongside delivering on its core regulatory work for the next three years.
