Pennsylvania's nine casinos generated a combined $155,048,230 in gross revenue in December, representing a 28.14 per cent increase on the figure recorded in 2008.

Although the increase was largely attributed to the opening of two new casinos in 2009, the seven properties in operation in December 2008 produced a 1.4 per cent increase in revenue.

According to the state’s Gaming Control Board, tax revenue from casinos during 2009 reached $1,080,472,55, compared with $888,561,167 in 2008.

“December was a very eventful and successful month for the PGCB and Pennsylvania’s casino industry,” executive director Kevin O’Toole said.
