Singapore will invest more than S$360m (US$247m) to train 74,000 tourism workers to enhance the city-state's tourism industry in the next three years.

Earlier this week, the Singapore government announced its tourism industry is set to achieve a record 10.2 million visitor arrivals by the end of the year, bringing some S$13.6bn to the island nation.

A range of developments in the pipeline include the 165-metre high observation wheel, the Singapore Flyer, and two casino resorts - Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World at Sentosa.

The Singapore Tourism Board has set targets to achieve 17 million visitor arrivals and S$30 billion tourism receipts by 2015.
