Last week’s mass shooting at Mandalay Bay could hurt Las Vegas visitation in the near term, according to a Morgan Stanley survey.

Thirty-four per cent of those who planned to visit Las Vegas say they will postpone their trips and six per cent will cancel, according to the survey.

Among gamblers who had visited within the past year, 43 per cent said they will postpone or cancel trips. The 37 per cent who said they expect to visit Las Vegas in the next 12 months is down from 57 per cent in August’s survey.

Based on the survey, analyst Thomas Allen expects Las Vegas RevPAR to decline seven per cent this quarter and next. He earlier estimated a five per cent decline.
