The Playboy Club in London is to host the world’s biggest international backgammon tournament with a prize pool of more than $1m.

Taking place on November 25-29, 2012, the Playboy Club London Backgammon Million is set to bring together 128 players for the main event and a further 32 players for a high-roller tournament. The combined prize pool will stand at $1.7m.
Organisers London Clubs International and Player Events of London are inviting many of the world’s leading backgammon professionals alongside celebrities and high net worth individuals to the tournament, which will be televised.
“Many of our clients are backgammon enthusiasts and we want to provide them the best that international backgammon has to offer,” said Playboy Club director Adam Roberts. “Bringing the crop of the world’s best players to our club is set to be a memorable occasion and we are thoroughly looking forward to it.”
The first million-dollar backgammon event organised by Player Events took place in the Bahamas in 2007 and director Stephen Pearson is aiming to go one better this time around.
“I have been asked many times by players who attended the event in the Bahamas to repeat the experience of million dollar backgammon,” he said. “In fact, I wanted to better that event and we are set to achieve that with the Playboy Club London Backgammon Million.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be organising this event at Playboy Club London; international backgammon and the Playboy brand go hand in hand and I am looking forward to an immensely successful event.”
