Slovenian tourist company Hit Group and operator Harrah's Entertainment have signed a joint venture deal to construct a €750m entertainment and casino centre in Nova Gorica, western Slovenia.

The proposed development will include a 1,500-room world-class hotel; a conference-and-events centre; large wellness and swimming pool amenities; first-class dining; a casino; and various other entertainment sports and retail attractions.

According to the two companies, the development will become Europe’s largest integrated resort destination, and will provide employment opportunities to as many as 4,500 people.

"It is estimated that over 90 per cent of guests are expected to come from abroad," said Chuck Atwood, vice chairman of the Harrah’s board. "Our future guests will be able to rely on Slovenia’s well developed motorway and airport infrastructure."

The exact location for the facility is still unclear, as is the exact date when it will open its doors. According to the best-case scenario, it could open in three-years time, the companies said.

"Apart from its long-term impact on the development of the regions and Slovenia’s tourist industry, the centre could represent an extraordinary business opportunity for many companies and individuals," Atwood concluded.
